Summary

The Area Sales Manager role is to expand our customer base and achieve sales quotas for specific regions of our company. Area Sales Managers are professionals who manage and coach/mentor team members to accomplish sales objectives across many different regions. This position can control significant decisions, recruit new customers, and increase sales by improving employee engagement techniques. 

 
To be successful in this role, you should have previous experience managing the operation of a specific region while taking accountability for reaching targets. Must combine excellent communication skills, leadership, organization/planning capabilities and decision-making/critical thinking skills. 

What You'll Do

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coaches, mentors and develops the sales team
  • Set and manage individual and team sales goals
  • Implements policies and procedures designed to exceed customer expectations
  • Coordinates activities with Sales, Operations and Production Department
  • Conducts or participates in annual performance reviews for sales team members
  • Manages resolution of customer related issues efficiently and effectively
  • Assist in the recruiting, hiring, training and coaching of new factory representatives
  • Keep informed of competitor activity including manufacturers utilized and pricing related information
  • Creatively utilize sales contests to build morale and motivate the sales team.
  • Work with Inside Sales Manager to ensure the showroom is covered at all times and that walk-in customers are being handled timely and efficiently
  • Communicate effectively with senior management to ensure that sales goals and sales performance are aligned with company directives
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction

 

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

Perform Sales Meetings on a consistent basis

            Monday 930-11am

            Review weekly, monthly and yearly individual and team sales performance

Provide training on relevant sales topics

                        Utilize outside vendors to augment sales training

                                    Synchrony Bank, GreenSky, Destination Motivation, BHI, etc.

Wednesday 9-10am – Virtual Sales Coaching meeting

Friday 9-920am – Virtual meeting

            Motivate the team to finish the week strong

            Review housekeeping items as deemed necessary

 

 

Assist in Managing the Area Sales Team with Market Presidents

            Perform ride-alongs as deemed necessary

            Review paperwork to ensure accuracy and timeliness

            Help close deals by working directly with factory representatives

            Utilize MOD Reports on a consistent basis to review sales performance

            Ensure that all “No Sale” leads are addressed efficiently and effectively

            Perform other duties as deemed necessary

Reporting Structure:

  • Reports directly to Corporate General Sales Manager and partners with Market Presidents.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

  • Minimum 5+ years of sales experience within or industry 

  • 4 year college degree strongly preferred  

  • Successful track record of growing a region and sales.  

  • Ability and track record of developing and executing a sales plan to reach target accounts  

  • Innovative problem solver; recognizing customer needs, providing alternatives and selling and implementing alternative solutions  

  • Ability to measure and analyze key performance indicators (ROI and KPIs) 

  • Understanding business operations 

  • Ability to lead and motivate a high performance sales team 

  • Excellent communication skills 

  • Strong organizational skills with a problem-solving attitude 

  • Availability to travel 

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS 

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. 

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. 

  

REASONING ABILITY 

Ability to make sound decisions with limited supervision 

Ability to deal effectively with diverse types of people

Ability to travel frequently, including overnight travel.  

Ability to travel frequently to NewSouth Window locations in Texas.
