Summary

The maintenance team leader role is responsible for implementation, reviewing, tracking and maintaining production machinery and equipment. 

What You'll Do

Other duties may be assigned 

  • Monitoring and prioritizing calls taken from various departments to coordinate personnel in the organizing and planning of procedures, set-ups, installation and repairing of production equipment and special purpose machines, including equipment’s electrical supply lines and circuits, electrical/electronic controls, piping and tubing, pneumatic controls and systems, and hydraulic systems.
  • Works with department Leaders to delegate the activities of Maintenance Mechanics to optimize response times and resolve issues, set schedules.
  • Upon diagnoses from mechanics, makes and determines complexity, refers complex situations and lengthy machine downtimes to Supervisors and higher supervision.
  • Administers general preventative maintenance duties. Utilizing the CMMS system, establishes guidelines for equipment, assessment and scheduled service.
  • Oversees and delegates assignment of duties for diagnosing troubleshooting, determining the extent of repairs, determining estimated labor time for outside repairs, or making the necessary repairs and adjustments as efficiently as possible.
  • Meets with Supervisors to determine daily and weekly work priorities and adjusts work activities accordingly.
  • Attending meetings when the Supervisor is not present. Serves as department contact when Supervisor is unavailable.
  • Relays and shares information with employees and other departments in a timely manner.
  • Schedules meetings with staff and attends meetings with other departments to ensure optimum communication.
  • Provides positive and negative feedback to employees verbally and in writing. Participates in annual performance reviews for employees.
  • Assists employees with difficult or unusual situations, making decisions about disposition of situation or the need to seek additional authorization for action.
  • Helping in the interview process of prospective employees.
  • Oversees and utilizes safe machine guard placement and protection for safe operation by production personnel.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

    • Basic competency of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook) 
    • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in journey-level equipment maintenance 
    • Ability to prioritize, monitor and coordinate several employees and assignments. 

LANGUAGE / COMMUNICATION SKILLS 

Understand paperwork procedures. Manage communication with downstream customers. Work with leadership to ensure proper communication standards are used. Can write an effective email, and provide written updates to the leadership team. 

 

REASONING ABILITY 

    • Has the ability to prioritize schedules for reorder 
    • Has the ability to give orders priority based on build dates 
    • Can direct team members on placement of glass for optimal load space.

    • Pushing occasional – uses “hip check method” for easily moved objects, fork lift or crew to move heavy objects 
    • Pulling occasional – one person for easily moved objects, fork lift or crew to move heavy objects 
    • Carry Occasional - uses rolling cart or forklift for items over 35 lbs. 
    • Lifting 32# toolbelt in and out of bicycle; fork lift or crew to lift heavy objects; can accommodate 35 lb. limit 
    • Repetitive Hand movements with frequent use of hand or air tools 
    • Foot – frequent pedaling bicycle around the plant or operating foot controls on forklift 
    • Head/Neck – frequent turning for navigation and safety 
    • While climbing uses, Man lift for work above the floor 

 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS 

Ability to travel occasionally domestically 

 

Occasional:   activity exists less than 1/3 of the time. 

Frequent:  activity exists 1/3 and 2/3 of the time.
